1. Your Lie in April

Music accompanies the path of the human metronome, the prodigious pianist Kousei Arima. But after the passing of his mother, Saki Arima, Kousei falls into a downward spiral, rendering him unable to hear the sound of his own piano. However, everything changes when he meets a beautiful violinist, Kaori Miyazono, who stirs up his world and sets him on a journey to face music again.
Based on the manga series of the same name, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso approaches the story of Kousei's recovery as he discovers that music is more than playing each note perfectly, and a single melody can bring in the fresh spring air of April.

Disclaimer: We must warn you for it's a total emotional rollercoaster and only the ones who are prepared can survive it.

3. One-Punch Man

Our part-time hero Saitama's laid-back attitude and nonchalance while he defeats his enemies with one punch is a breath of fresh air in the world of generic, confident superheroes. The show knows how to make you laugh and question your life at the same time while providing some amazing fight scenes from the amazing animator Yutaka Nakamura (My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood). And if you are already attached to this bald part-time hero, a second season is on its way!

5. Aggretsuko

This one being a personal favourite, there’s a lot to like about this show. It’s cute as hell. It’s funny. It’s relatable. It tackles sexism and gendered expectations that women in Japan face in the workplace. It portrays female friendships as important lifelines for adult women. It explores women’s anger and frustration in a relatable way.

7. Flavors of Youth

"Told in three chapters in three cities," the official synopsis explains, "explores the simple joys of life through sensual memories and how the beating heart of love cannot be defeated by the flow of time."Flavors of Youth blends the director of 'Your Name', Makoto Shinkai's aesthetic with the work of talented Chinese artists and storytellers.

Don't forget there's a minute long post-credits scene!

9. Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden, the titular character, is a former child soldier in an ambiguously European country in the late stages of a vaguely World War I and II-inspired conflict. Her commanding officer’s final order was for her to live and love freely before he went missing-in-action. But Violet, after spending her life being treated as a killing machine, doesn’t understand how to follow through.

It lived up to fan expectations in the visual area, Kyoto Animation did what it knows the best and did not disappoint. However, the story still felt too superficial at some points.

11. The Devil Is a Part-Timer!

Powerless in a world without magic, Satan assumes the guise of a human named Sadao Maou and begins working at MgRonald's—a local fast-food restaurant—to make ends meet. He soon realizes that his goal of conquering Ente Isla is just not enough as he grows determined to climb the corporate ladder and become the ruler of Earth, one satisfied customer at a time!

Whether it's part-time work, household chores, or simply trying to pay the rent on time,The Devil Is a Part-Timer!  presents a hilarious view of the most mundane aspects of everyday life, all through the eyes of a hapless demon lord.

13. Knights of Sidonia

No, it is not that one song from Muse! It's been a thousand years since the Gauna, a strange alien race with no known method of communication, destroyed the solar system. A portion of humanity managed to escape using enormous "seed ships" like the Sidonia, which have allowed them to maintain the population while drifting through space. Nagate Tanikaze is a young man who has been raised deep in the bowels of the ship. When he goes into training to pilot the huge robotic weapons known as Gardes, Nagate is entrusted with piloting the legendary unit known as Tsugumori. Nagate and his fellow pilots put their lives on the line against the Gauna, in the ultimate battle for the survival of humanity.

It is a must-watch for all the sci-fi lovers out there!
