The plot develops around Ash’s attempts to find out what Banana fish means and his romantic friendship with the Japanese photographer Eiji Okumura.
One of the most underappreciated series in 2018, Banana fish is definitely worth your time if you are looking for mature themes and a dense plot.
2. 9. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime
Satoru Mikami is a 37-years-old embarrassment to society when he is killed by a robber. He transfers to another life, in a fantasy world where he is no longer a human but a slime monster –where he also develops slime properties.
This show is the isekai anime of 2018.
3. 8. Grand Blue
Iori Kitahara is about to start his freshman year surrounded by the sunny beach and the ocean waves at the Izu University. He dreams of college life with beautiful girls and cool friends as he enters his uncle’s scuba diving shop. However, upon entering he embarks on a group of naked muscular upperclassmen that soon turn out to be alcoholics.
A college comedy series, Grand Blue involves lots of misunderstandings, things that don’t go according to the plan or just wrong.
4. 7. Steins Gate 0
Steins Gate 0, a sequel to the original Steins Gate series, takes place in the Beta worldline of the original series where the mad scientist Okabe fails to save Makise Kurisu. The plot follows his struggle in dealing with the “bad ending” he got.
The series surely lives up to the success of its predecessor.
5. 6. Attack on Titan Season 3
The long wait was worth. Unlike the previous two seasons, human versus human conflicts dominate most of the season. And we finally get clues about the core mystery, alongside with lots of scandals, plots and battles within and beyond the walls.

Yoshifumu Nitta, is a young yakuza member who takes pride in his prized vase collection. While enjoying his beautiful vases suddenly a large capsule falls on top of his head. A young girl with extraordinary powers, Hina, comes out and threatens to destroy his vase collection if he does not take care of her. Nitta is forced to provide food and shelter to Hina, while figuring that she might be useful in his yakuza business.
Hinamatsuri is a hilarious comedy about these two people’s lives.
7. 4. Rascal Doesn’t Dream of the Bunny Girl Senpai
The story takes up the issue of “Puberty syndrome” where supernatural phenomena affect adolescent teens. The main character Sakuta Azusagawa, a high school sophomore, meets a bunny girl in the library that invisible to anybody but him. Later he meets other girls experiencing this syndrome. The story is unusual, the characters are well-developed. This is a series that you can either love or hate.

Shiarese Kobuchizawa is determined to go to Antarctica despite being ridiculed by everyone around her. She hopes to find her mother who disappeared three years ago.
Mari Tamaki’s heart is filled with wonder about the world around her and wants to see where the universe reaches out. However, her fears and doubts about the uncertainty of actually chasing after her dreams and anxieties hold her back –she is wasting her youth.
When their paths encounter, two girls embark on this impossible adventure together. This light-hearted story about friendship comes with realistic depictions of relationships and deep challenges.
9. 2. Violet Evergarden
Violet Evergarden is a former soldier who spent her life in the army since childhood. She has no skills or knows no other way of life than the military. Now that the war is over, she has to adapt to civilian life and find a new purpose. The plot follows her struggle as she takes up a job as an Auto Memory Doll –a woman who writes a letter to communicate the client’s feelings to the receiver of the letter. Raised to become a human weapon Violet hopes that she can learn what caring for others means through this job. We witness her as she struggles and grows through her journey, this is surely one of the most touching series ever made.
10. 1. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind
The story takes places in a bizarre depiction of Italy, in Naples 2001. Giorno Giovanna is a mafia ganster who’s dream is to become a “Gang-star”. He is one of Dio Brando’s sons who possessed Jonathan Joestar’s body when he conceived Giorno, making Giorno a Joestar. He gets one step closer to his dream when he meets Bruno Bucellati, a mob from the Passione gand and together they decide to overthrow the mysterious boss and seize control of Passione.
